Christ the Healer Church, Inc. was birthed in the spirit of the visionary, Pastor Calvin B. Lockett on May 1996 while Pastor Calvin and his wife, Pastor Lynnita Lockett, served as Elders at House of Deliverance in Vilseck , Germany . For two years Pastor Lockett carried his God given vision on a yellow piece of paper that he faithfully showed to every person he encountered. This paper simply carried the name of the church and the initial slogan of the ministry: “A place of Refuge for the Spiritually Wounded.”

When the United States Army transferred Pastors Lockett and family to Fort Campbell , Kentucky , they were sure they were about to birth in the natural what God had birthed in the spirit. However after a three-month consecration period in San Antonio , Texas , the Holy Spirit directed the Lockett family to unite with the New Salem Full Gospel Baptist Church , in Clarksville under the leadership of Pastor R. Louis Leaks, Jr. Pastor Calvin served as Sunday School Teacher, Evangelism Coordinator, and Co-Pastor, while Pastor Lynn served as Sunday school teacher and worked in the Youth Ministry.

In April 1998 while on orders to deploy to Saudi Arabia , God spoke to Pastor Calvin in a dream and told him, “It's Time.” Two days later Pastor Calvin's orders were deleted and God told him in a vision that the Baymont Hotel (now Holiday Inn Express) in Oak Grove , Kentucky , would be the location to have the first service. On June 7 th , 1998, Christ The Healer Church formally held its first service. Approximately forty people were in attendance. During this experience, seven people united with the Ministry. Marsha Burney, Shamond Scales, Stephen Vincent, Kim McFadden, Rochelle Moody, and Pastor Calvin and Pastor Lynnita became the founding members. Christ The Healer held services at the Baymont for two years and five months. During this time, God's presence dwelled and people were saved, baptized, delivered, filled with the Holy Spirit, and blessed by God's Word.

In August 2000, Christ The Healer received a sixty-day notice from the Baymont stating the church would have to find another location to worship. On the fifty-fourth day, God opened the door and Christ The Healer found the present 10,000 square foot location at 1295 Paradise Hill Road . The first service at this location was held on the 2nd Sunday in December 2000 A.D.

In 8 years the church has grown from 7 members to over 300. Although the present location was renovated into a state of the art worship facility in 2005, there are plans in the making to purchase additional land and property to further expand the vision. God's hand has been on this ministry from the beginning, and through Him the vision will come to pass in the future
